Blog #12 First time Chilli grower

For many years gardening and growing plants meant a disruption to my natural routine but something I did to keep a partner happy. Don’t get me wrong I loved the romantic idealism behind spending time outdoors but I was never one for cultivating the landscape for my own pleasure.
Well I’m glad to say that’s a thing of the past. This spring I’ve decided to take a little ownership of what goes into my belly by trying to grow some of the things I like to scoff!
This is very new ground for me and as such it will be baby steps for a while why I’m making my way over a steep but very enjoyable learning curve.
As you can see I’m growing from seed some chilli plants. I worked it out that my total spends on fresh chillies for a year was around £70! I’m cultivating 3 commons types of eating chilli that when I harvest will last about a year at a cost of £10, good maths I’d say and the pleasure and satisfaction of growing your own is priceless!
It’s really great fun, very relaxing and rewarding. I’m not going to go into detail about how you grow your own as its simple and even for a complete starter it’s as easy as making a brew. Kits can also be bought and it doesn’t stop at chillies. Grow your own veg etc is becoming a countywide trend.
With a bit of luck I’ll be posting some more on grow your own so keep a look out for that.
Leave a comment or tips below, lots and lots to be learnt.
